About us

Heel.Sit is owned and operated by me, Cara Segura. I run it with my two children, Caylin and Charlie, who have grown up right along side the kennel, my husband Mike and our incredible employees, Megan, Taylor, and Brooke.

I first started Heel.Sit as a dog trainer looking to bridge the gap left by traditional obedience classes. I saw so many dog owners struggling in that educational format and wanted to see what we could do to help. In my first year as a trainer clients started asking for boarding and daycare services. We obliged and open our kennel and daycare.

​My first focus is still on training and education. My main areas of focus have been in reactivity, anxiety, and multi dog conflict. I love complicated cases. I also compete in a variety of sports and share my life with 6 border collies, 1 border x aussie mix, 1 collie, 2 aussies, 1 husky mix, and 1 terrier mix. Our current sport goals center around rally obedience, agility, dock diving, and sheep herding.

Whether it be behavior or sports my training philosophy stays focused on communication and positive reinforcement. We strive to be as force free as possible. I believe that creating strong relationships is the best way forward.
